Exploring Creativity Through Projects: Unveiling the Story Behind the Scenes
Base Camp Festival India
A landmark adventure initiative by Nungshi & Tashi
Base Camp Festival India (BCFI) is India’s first outdoor lifestyle festival, the aim of which is to promote outdoor lifestyle and culture in India. The idea of the festival was inspired by Basecamp Festival UK (basecampfestival.co.uk) when twin explorers Nungshi Tashi visited the event as invited speakers in 2016.
The three-day event celebrates the adventure spirit, popularises the outdoor lifestyle among Indians and builds life skills. Co-sponsored by NungshiTashi Foundation and Outdoor Leadership School, BCFI has a special focus on girl participation. Some selected girls from marginalised backgrounds are given free entry to benefit from the range of confidence and knowledge building activities such as hiking, trekking, wall climbing, repelling, canyoneering, MTB cycling, adventure racing, navigation, obstacle course, campfire, music, screening of adventure films, night camping etc.
As India’s friendliest and only of its kind adventure festival BCFI is getting very popular and has once again put Uttarakhand on the world map of adventure tourism. Adventure enthusiasts convene for half a week amidst the mesmerising foothills of Mussoorie straddling Tons river and a 40 feet waterfall prepared to try bundles of new adventures, to be inspired by tales of exploration, and party under the stars!
