ECO Challenge Fiji 2020 hosted by Bear Grylls
Eco-Challenge is the World’s Toughest Race. It’s an expedition against the clock in which international teams of adventure athletes race non-stop, 24 hours a day across hundreds of miles of remote backcountry terrain. Each team is comprised of four competitors and must include at least one member of each gender. All teams are supported by an assistant crew member who is responsible for resupplying the four athletes on their team at key points along the course.

Nungshi Tashi formed and successfully led team Khukuri Warriors in Amazon’s World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji 2020. It is the ultimate expedition race in which teams race non-stop, 24 hours a day, covering a distance of 671 km in 11 days across hundreds of miles of rugged backcountry terrain complete with mountains, jungles and oceans.
– WARRIORS FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE
Nungshi and Tashi’s underlying theme in all their adventure activities is “Upliftment of The Indian Girl Child” and their motto is “Gender Equality Now: Fight Female Foeticide.“ They are brand ambassadors of Uttarakhand state for its ‘Beti-Bachao’ (save daughter) campaign. In their burning desire to make India an Outdoor Nation with the focus on empowering girls the twins started the NungshiTashi Foundation in 2015.
– ICONS OF ADVENTURE SPORTS
Nungshi and Tashi are famously known as the “Everest Twins”; they were barely 21 years old when they earned this title on becoming the first female twins to summit Mt Everest in 2013. However they have many more global gender iconic milestones to their credit. In a span of just two years they became the Worlds first twins (and only South Asians) to complete the “Explorers Grand Slam”. This involves climbing the highest mountain peaks in each of the seven continents and reaching the North and South poles – the twins polar expedition was on skies and cross country skiing known to be one of the most gruelling sporting challenges. They were the first female twins to climb Mt Cook, New Zealand’s highest peak, and also an unexplored 21,000 ft. high virgin peak in the Indian Himalayas.
In 2019 Nungshi Tashi successfully completed the “Worlds Toughest Race“ in Fiji. They were the only South Asians amongst 66 experienced and hardened competing teams from 30 countries. This race is featured on Amazon Prime with Bear Grylls as the Host, is a “must watch” for adventure sport lovers.
